Excursion #1: CEPA Gallery & Hallwalls
When: Friday, February 8th at 3pm SHARP
Where: We'll meet at CEPA Gallery located in the Market Arcade building, 617 Main St. (Market Arcade), Buffalo, at 3pm. We will have a look at the exhibition As I See It: iPhone Photography by Cathaleen Curtiss. Here is another way an artists creates while using materials that are accessible to many people – think about how many of us carry around an iPhone or similar device and take snapshots frequently. What if you really start looking and documenting the world around you?
Between 4 and 4:15pm, we'll head over to Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center, located not too far away at 341 Delaware Ave., the corner of Delaware and Tupper Avenues – also known as the Church. Those of you who drive will just drive over, and those of you taking public transport can catch a ride with me (I can take up to three people comfortably), or with someone else in class. It's a little too far to walk with our time constraints. We'll be focusing our attention on the exhibition Vascular Modes, a group exhibition including your humble professor. Artists were asked to create work responding to a particular piece of architecture located in downtown Buffalo, and the results couldn't be more interesting and disparate.
Cost: Both galleries have FREE admission. You will want to come prepared to pay for on-street parking at both places. Hallwalls does have a small free parking lot as well as convenient paid parking on the street.
